Everybody starts out as a blank slate.

Focusing on You

Communication

Communication is key in role playing, but that’s not to say that talking is everything either. Body language and even silence can sometime speak worlds to a game master. And that’s what we’re there for. We referee the game, making sure that everyone get’s a say, everyone gets a turn and everyone gets to play their part.

Self confidence

Role playing has been used for decades to assist people with building their self confidence. Learning social interactions and how to deal with them. The benefit of role playing in Dungeons and Dragons is that the game master is there to help and gently encourage players to do things they may not do in real life. Talking to NPC’s (Non playable characters, generally controlled by the GM) and discussing problems with their table mates and GM all come together to develop self confidence and nurture self worth

Social awareness

Social awareness is the corner stone of our real life world. Society is where we live, work and dream. During a session of Dungeons and Dragons you may experience multiple scenarios which call for multiple reactions and interactions, each different from the last. From chatting to a person running the local tavern, to discussing the ramifications of the city destroying evil dragon - each social situation requires you to consider, think and react to a variety of peoples (and in game characters!) perspectives and actions. Role playing allows for you to develop these skills, all from the safety of a table with friends and a GM.

Empathy and Flexibility

Dungeons and Dragons allows people to get lost in a fantasy world, a therapy of sorts where the players can test actions and consequences from a safe place. The characters may be fictional in a fictional universe, but playing them requires an emotional investment where they can try on different ways of being and safely push boundaries that would normally limit their day to day lives. All of this alongside 3-5 other players doing the same thing leads to a collaboration of empathy and flexibility.

Allow yourself to flourish and nurture your skills.
